There is no doubt now that the undisclosed injury Jordan Addison suffered during OTA’s was not a that big of a deal. Nothing is slowing him down so far. He looks fully healthy and in the right mental space to have a superb rookie season after some offseason controversy.
Addison made headlines on the eve of this summer’s camp after receiving a traffic citation. The young receiver was clocked going 140 mph and told the officer it was due to an emergency with his dog. There was no arrest, and Addison promptly checked into TCO Performance Center.
Addison seems contrite about his mistake. “”I just want to reiterate that I take full responsibility and full ownership for my actions last week. It’s never a good thing when [Coach Kevin O’Connell] or [GM Adofo-Mensah] have to address questions or answer questions about me off the field, so I just want to apologize to everyone for that,” Addison mentioned. Let’s hope the young man is only in the news for positive performances and not for off field issues.
The Pitt and USC alum has cemented his draft position so far this training camp. Addison keeps making plays in practice. He is routinely making contested catches and keeps getting open with excellent routes. He provided such a strong impression that QB Kirk Cousins went out of his way post-practice to make sure reporters noted Addison’s noteworthy catches.
Kirk Cousins walked over to a couple reporters after practice today to point out the impressive catches Jordan Addison made during team periods today. Strong day for the first-round pick on Day 2 of #Vikings camp.

In terms of practice, though, there is nothing but optimism. He was the star of a Vikings highlight reel and looks like the perfect complement for Justin Jefferson. It looks like the Vikings have a reboot of the 1998 “three deep” with Jefferson, KJ Osborne, and Addison.
This CATCH by Jordan Addison 😳
Addison ran with the Vikings starting offense, as well as their second team in yesterday’s practice.
However, Addison is reportedly expected to “assume” the role of WR3 once the regular season begins.

Training camp is still ramping up. We will have to see how Addison performs when players can tackle and are wearing full pads. Plenty of receivers look great when there is little contact and are wearing shorts. However, every piece of info this far makes it seem like the Vikings made the right pick with Jordan Addison. Look for him to continue his strong start and keep that momentum going into the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
