Vikings 5th round selection out of BYU is a popular guy around Minnesota, for now. It’s always an exciting time when your team is looking to the future when it comes to the quarterback position, especially when it comes to the Vikings, who haven’t made many draft selections when it comes to its signal callers. Yes, we will always remember the Christian Ponder and Kellen Mond selections and in not necessarily a good way, and that sometimes leaves fans feeling skeptical when the Vikings do end up making a move for a QB in the draft.

QB Jaren Hall at a photo op
Enter Jaren Hall, a fifth round pick out of BYU, who has plenty of talent, but a lot of things to work on as well. He’s not the most accurate passer, especially when on the move, he’s undersized, and doesn’t have the cannon of an arm most franchise quarterbacks have these days. But, he’s intelligent, has great leadership, and has an amazing feel for the game. So, there’s a lot to work with, and obviously coach Kevin O’Connell sees some potential in him. Hall will be more than likely working as the third quarterback for most of the offseason, with Kirk Cousins being the starter, and Nick Mullens being his primary backup. But the fifth round pick, will get plenty of work throughout minicamp and training camp as we enter pivotal points in the offseason programs. Hall will have some good weapons to work with even being the third guy on the depth chart. WRs Jalen Nailor and Trishton Jackson, TE Nick Muse and rookie running back DeWayne McBride will be getting a lot of time with Hall. Which is not a bad group to get your feet wet with.

Head Coach Kevin O’Connell
All in all Jaren Hall is set up for success entering his rookie season. Kevin O’Connell is a quarterback friendly head coach who will m0re than likely be spending a ton of time with him throughout the offseason and into the regular season. He’s got a system that he’s entering that is similar to the one he ran at BYU. Hall has two veteran quarterbacks that he will learn a ton from in Kirk Cousins and Nick Mullens. There is also weapons galore infested into the building in WRs Justin Jefferson, KJ Osborn, and Jordan Addison along with TE TJ Hockenson.
We may not know if Jaren Hall will be any good, but we know he’s in a good situation moving forward.
