Ivan Pace Jr. is an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati. He transferred there from Miami. His one season at Cincinnati got him a unanimous All-American selection as well as the AAC Defensive Player of the Year award. Many were surprised that this guy ended up going undrafted, but the Vikings took advantage of that and snagged him right after the draft.
Looking good so far
Naturally, fans were excited to acquire a player of Pace’s caliber without even having to use a draft pick. We were all eager to get to training camp to see what he can do. Pace has spent most of his time so far working with the second string. This is already an impressive accomplishment for him. It is true that he is smaller than the average NFL linebacker, standing at 5 feet 10 inches. However his speed and athleticism make up for that. He is able to fly around from sideline to sideline, which in turn will allow him to make big plays. The Vikings will need those big plays, but also consistentcy out of Pace.
Unlimited potential
This year’s Vikings defense works out great for a guy like Pace. It is all there for the taking, and the players that step up and prove that they are capable will earn themselves a spot. He can be a valuable piece for Brian Flores, with his blitzing capabilities. Pace is known to have a great get-off ability. He also has a strong arsenal of pass rush moves to get around offensive linemen. Sign us up.
So, Ivan Pace Jr. is a versatile, athletic linebacker that will add some speed and aggressiveness to the defense this year. If he can keep it up in training camp and earn himself a roster spot, the sky’s the limit for him.
Kirk is by far the best GB in the NFC. He will bring us to the Super Bowl this year. Go Vikes.
We hope so too!
