Yesterday Vikings Fans collectively breathed a sigh of relief when superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson reported in for minicamp. Since the end of last season, the anticipation for a new deal for the 4th year receiver has ramped up, additionally the Vikings made the fairly obvious decision to pick up his 5th year option.
There was a bit of tension for fans when Jefferson was absent at OTAs, yet he stated there was no particular reason for his absences, and that he was also training in Miami as well as working on endorsement deals.
In other news, Stefon Diggs has once again stirred up offseason drama. There were conflicting stories as to what was actually going on, with Head Coach Sean McDermott voicing his concern for Diggs’ absence, and Diggs’ agent claiming that his client was in Buffalo and would report for the entirety of minicamp. Bills fans, we know how it feels. Diggs has since returned to minicamp, but it did feel better to be on the outside looking in at another Stefon Diggs situation.
Lots of Vikings fans, including myself, were hesitant to poke fun at the drama in Buffalo until we knew that Jefferson was back in town and ready to go. Now that he is, a new contract should follow in the coming weeks/months. Justin Jefferson deserves one heck of a deal, and the fans never want to see him in another team’s jersey. This season should be his biggest yet, and with some new help in the form of Jordan Addison, and K.J. Osborn appearing to have taken a big step, Jefferson will have way more ways to get open this season. This year is going to be fun.
