The Minnesota Vikings may not be known for a ton of success in the playoffs or Super Bowl victories (please hold the jokes). But they are known for having superstar level players. Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Adrian Peterson, and currently Justin Jefferson, just to name a few are some that come to mind. As we look at the Vikings current roster heading into 2023, who are some players that could become household names?
Let’s take a look.
1. TE TJ Hockenson
The Vikings acquired Hockenson at the trade deadline last season, and it’s without a doubt, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s best move as a GM. The former Lion instantly made an impact from day one as a Viking and should be in line for an extension sometime in the near future. Hockenson could become the first Vikings TE to hit the 1,000 yard mark in a season, and it might not even be close. The ascending tight end is only 25 years old and tallied 86 receptions last season. The sky is the limit heading into 2023.
2. LT Christian Darrisaw
In my opinion, Darrisaw is already a star. But I wouldn’t say he is a household name as he’s only entering year 3 in the NFL. The up and coming tackle uses his massive size incredibly well and is a beast in the run game and keeps Kirk Cousins clean from his blind side all game long. Another player who will be in line for a substantial payday, CD is ready to compete for the title of best left tackle in the game.
3. Byron Murphy Jr.
The former Cardinal has had a very solid start to his NFL career, which led to a nice payday with the Vikings this past offseason. Murphy has all the tools to play inside and out and Brian Flores is going to work wonders with him. This situation reminds me a little bit when Flores worked with Xavien Howard in Miami. Byron Murphy Jr. could be on that same trajectory if all goes to plan.
